A bright and shiny new year {oh, and a brand new decade!} is just a ball drop away. 2019 was filled with some seriously delicious recipes, and by the looks of this list, a whole lotta chocolate! As we turn the corner towards a new year, I’ve rounded up my #topnine best desserts from 2019 as chosen by you. I’m so grateful for all of the cookies, cakes and chocolate confections we’ve shared this past year and I’m looking forward to an even sweeter 2020!

1. CHOCOLATE HAZELNUT SANDWICH COOKIES

Starting off with my most liked photo on Instagram in all of 2019, these chocolate hazelnut sandwich cookies are quite possibly the easiest {and prettiest!} stuffed cookie to come out of my kitchen to date. They are all kinds of wonderful and I can pretty much guarantee you’re gonna love them just as much as I do. A decadent whipped hazelnut ganache is sandwiched between two dark chocolate slice-and-bake cookies. Packed full rich, chocolatey flavor, these chocolate hazelnut sandwich cookies are sweet, petite, and positively delicious.

2. GLUTEN FREE DOUBLE CHOCOLATE BUNDT CAKE

It’s no secret I love a good bundt cake and I’m not surprised this favorite made it onto the list of the best desserts from 2019. This double chocolate bundt cake checks A-L-L the boxes! Rich and fudgy, super easy to make, always a crowd pleaser. And oh, yeah….it just so happens to be gluten free but you’ll never guess it. Pinky swear!

3. CLASSIC CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

For awhile there I kinda thought the internet really doesn’t need another chocolate chip cookie recipe. But you’ll just have to trust me when I say your life is not complete until you’ve tried THIS classic chocolate chip cookie. It’s quite simply the best ever and I can pretty much guarantee that after one bite of this ooey gooey, soft and chewy cookie you’ll be 100% on board with that statement. This recipe is proof positive that classic never goes out of style!

4. CHOCOLATE LOVER’S BANANA BREAD

This Chocolate Lover’s Banana Bread is the perfect balance of banana and chocolate. Leave it to me to add not one, but TWO, kinds of chocolate in this recipe because I’m extra like that. It’s loaded with chocolate chips because more is better when it comes to chocolate. This is one recipe you’ll want to file under my personal favorite category — “breakfast that doubles as dessert”.

5. BROOKIE ICE CREAM SANDWICHES

I’m not usually one to go for cold desserts in cold weather, but I’ll make an exception for these Brookie Ice Cream Sandwiches. This is the dessert you need in your life when you just can’t decide between a cookie and a brownie. You get the best of both worlds with this frozen treat. Just add ice cream and you’ve got a 3-for-1 deal. I’m drooling just thinking about them. They are legit life altering so even if it’s 8 degrees below zero in your neck of the woods, I suggest you make room in your freezer for a double batch of these epic sammies.

6. PEANUT BUTTER MOUSSE SANDWICH COOKIES

Whoever invented sandwich cookies deserves a gold star. You basically get two cookies in one and you just can’t be mad about that. Plus, they are just so cute and so much fun to make. One bite of these peanut butter sandwich cookies and you’ll wonder why you haven’t been stuffing your cookies with peanut butter mousse all along. This recipe is adapted from The Bake Feed’s The Cookie Collection and I’m not sure my peanut-butter-loving-self will ever meet a more delicious cookie. Pro-tip: make them mini[ish} and eat them straight from the freezer. You’re welcome.

7. CLASSIC CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM

Y’all screamed for ice cream when this classic dark chocolate ice cream made it’s debut on Instagram earlier this year. It’s rich, decadent and seriously splurge-worthy. It’s just that good. Don’t let the words “slow churn” scare you off. This recipe is simple and the hardest part is waiting for the ice cream to freeze. I’ve got three words for you – Pass. The. Spoon.

8. FLOURLESS MOLTEN CHOCOLATE CAKES

I was thrilled to see that this photo made the cut for the best desserts of 2019 because it happens to also be one of my favorite images. If you don’t just want to grab a spoon and deep dive into one of these molten chocolate cakes, I’m not sure we can be friends. These Flourless Molten Chocolate cakes are pure chocolate heaven! I know I say that about a lot of my recipes, but I really mean it this time people. Make these. You won’t be sorry. And because they are baked in individual ramekins, you don’t even have to feel bad about not sharing.

9. HOT CHOCOLATE SANDWICH COOKIES

My love affair with sandwich cookies continues with these Mexican hot chocolate sandwich cookies and it seems I’m not the only one who has fallen hard for stuffed cookies. A rich and fudgy cookie spiced with a hint of cinnamon and a dash of cayenne pepper makes for the perfect blend of spicy and sweet. Filled with a swirl of fluffy vanilla buttercream, these cookies won’t last a hot minute in the cookie jar!

Happy New Year friends & happy baking!
