You don’t need me to tell you that everything in

You don’t need me to tell you that everything in our world seems broken and messy right now. But really it should be quite simple. Treat others as you would want to be treated. There is no roadmap to navigating this road to change. But be kind to yourself and to others who are traveling on the same journey. There is a lot of room for error here and you’ll often pass failure on your way to success. That’s okay. Just keep going. We have to be willing to make mistakes in order to see progress. Continue to have honest and uncomfortable conversations with your children, donate if you are able, and support the organizations that are leading the way for change.

I hope with my whole heart that this time will finally be the turning point history books will write about. We owe it to our children to do better. To be better. It is up to each of us to collectively embrace this work as a lifelong journey, not a one time thing. I look forward to more researching and growing, listening and learning and I will continue to share resources and profiles of black creatives that resonate with me in my stories.

Along the way I will continue to fill this space with light and positivity - with a healthy dose of butter and sugar of course. If you need a friend, a smile, an ear to listen, or just a cookie, I’ll be here. Sending love. 💛

what’s your favorite dessert? like i mean your stuck on a desert island kinda favorite. your ride or die. your go-to when the going gets rough. the one indulgence you simply cannot live without?

for me, it’s a simple, fresh from the oven, ooey gooey chocolate chip cookie. the more chocolate the better. make it perfectly buttery and slightly chewy. if i have to chill the dough, so be it. but only if it’s worth the wait. oh, and let’s not forget that sprinkle of flakey sea salt please and thank you.

i’m definitely on team you-can-never-have-too-many-chocolate-chip-cookie-recipes which means i’m constantly tinkering with ingredients and ratios to find the best of the best. happy to report i think i found my all time fave. this is the part where i tease you and tell you the recipe is coming soon{ish} to the blog.
