Description
Homemade cinnamon sugar donuts make a delicious and easy breakfast treat warm from the oven. This recipe is simple to bake in thirty minutes or less with basic pantry ingredients and no frying.

For Donuts
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 2/3 cup light brown sugar, packed
- 1 cup buttermilk, stirred to loosen
- 4 TBSP unsalted butter, melted
- 3 tsp vanilla
For Topping
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon, ore more if desired
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350
- Spray donut pan with non-stick cooking spray
- In a medium bowl, whisk flour (spooned and leveled), baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon together
- In a separate bowl, whisk together egg, brown sugar, and buttermilk together until smooth
- Add melted butter and vanilla, mix until combined
- Pour wet ingredients over the flour mixture and mix until just combined
- Do not over mix
- Spoon batter directly into donut pan holes or alternatively, scoop dough into a ziplock bag to pipe into donut pan
- Fill donut holes about 3/4 full
- Bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges of donuts are golden brown
- Remove from oven and allow to cool in pan for 3-5 minutes
- Transfer to cooling rack and bake remaining batter
- For topping, mix cinnamon and sugar together in a shallow bowl
- Brush all sides and center of donut with melted butter and dunk the donut in the cinnamon sugar mixture
- Turn donut over and cover opposite side
- Best served immediately
